Scaling Mind and Body Interventions: The NCCIH Multi-Site Feasibility Initiative

Scaling Mind and Body Interventions: The NCCIH Multi-Site Feasibility Initiative

Scope and Objectives

The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) has issued a new Notice of Funding Opportunity, PAR-25-267, aimed at advancing clinical research for mind and body interventions. The primary objective is to support multi-site feasibility trials that provide the scientific foundation for future large-scale efficacy or effectiveness studies. This funding mechanism focuses on identifying critical parameters such as intervention fidelity across different sites, participant adherence, and recruitment scalability. As noted in established clinical research methodology, the transition from single-site efficacy to multi-site implementation is a common failure point in translational medicine (Czajkowski et al., 2015, Health Psychology).

Eligibility Requirements

This opportunity is open to a wide array of organizations seeking to validate integrative health approaches. Key eligible entities include:

  • Public and private institutions of higher education.
  • Nonprofit organizations with or without 501(c)(3) status.
  • For-profit organizations and small businesses.
  • State, local, and tribal government agencies.

Partnership and Multi-Site Requirements

To meet the criteria for this R01 grant, applications must propose a study involving at least two geographically distinct and non-overlapping sites. This requirement ensures that the intervention can be delivered consistently by different providers in diverse environments. Applicants are encouraged to assemble a multidisciplinary team, including biostatisticians and site coordinators, to ensure the rigorous collection of follow-up data and the minimization of missing data points.

Next Application Deadline: June 22, 2026. The program remains open for submissions through November 18, 2026, with typical budget recommendations suggesting direct costs not exceed $350,000 per year.
