Accessible for every participant and researcher.

Centralive conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, so people with disabilities can take part in studies and run them, in the Participant App and the researcher dashboard.

Built in

Accessibility is part of the product.

Not an add-on, an overlay or a separate mode.

Keyboard

Everything works from the keyboard

Every function in the researcher dashboard can be used with the keyboard alone, with a logical tab order and a visible focus indicator.

Screen readers

Works with screen readers

The Participant App is tested with VoiceOver and TalkBack. The dashboard is tested with VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS and Narrator.

Vision

Zoom and larger text

Text can be enlarged and screens magnified without losing content or function, on phones, tablets and desktop browsers.

Contrast

Clear contrast, not color alone

Text and controls meet AA contrast ratios, status is never shown by color alone, and the dashboard works in high contrast mode.

Forms

Labeled, forgiving forms

Questionnaires, EMAs and dashboard forms have clear labels and instructions, and error messages explain how to fix the problem.

One interface

The same product for everyone

There is no separate accessibility mode, lite version or overlay. Every participant and researcher uses the same standard interface.

How we test

Checked every quarter and every major release.

Our conformance is based on our own structured testing of the Participant App and the researcher dashboard.

Automated and manual checks

Automated testing with axe and WAVE, plus manual keyboard-only and screen reader testing, including magnification and high contrast checks.

A regular schedule

A full accessibility verification every quarter, and again before significant updates and new features ship.

Issues tracked to resolution

Every accessibility issue is logged, prioritized by its impact on people, and tracked until it is fixed.

A trained team

Designers, developers and testers take regular accessibility training and build accessibility in from the design stage.

Your study content

Keep the content you add accessible too.

Researchers write their own questionnaires, EMAs, messages and education content. A few habits keep it accessible:

  • Add alternative text to every image you upload.
  • Add captions or a transcript to videos.
  • Use plain language and short questions.
  • Don’t rely on color alone to carry meaning in images or charts.
